We are in a new garden space this year and had an insanely busy summer with lots of out-of-tow...

Come join me in my kitchen for cutting up some venison! This video specifically shows cutting meat from a deer hind quarter, however, the process is the same for a front quarter or meat from other similar animals like elk or antelope. Yes, the meat looks like a leg at the beginning and there is a small amount of "meat juice" aka blood throughout the video, so if those things make you squeamish,...

What do you do with apples that have dropped on the ground?
Переглядів 9377 років тому
Just for fun! The neighbor kids came over and figured out what to do with all those apples on the ground! The dog almost joined in, but thought better of it. ;-) And just FYI, we generally use every bit of fruit we can salvage, even the stuff that drops or is half eaten by birds. These apples are not ripe yet, and the boys got to them before I did. It was either laugh or cry and I chose laugh. ...

I have been making portable soup since yesterday. This morning, it was almost a tar consistency, sticking to everything. I put it in my dehydrator using heat. It is now like a rubber mat. Poke with a finger it leaves a divot that bouncec back which tells me the center isn't done yet. What should the final consistency be ?? hard like jerky or still rubbery like a fruit roll up ?

So I bought a house in April that was very well taken care of except for the well. Guessing it’s the original one around 50 years old. It decided to stop working the day after Christmas and won’t have a new one for around a week. Not wanting to spend a fortune on water containers (the new well is expensive enough) thought I’d get some buckets and air tight lids to transport water for flushing the toilets and cleaning up in between showers. Don’t own a mallet but tried beating it into submission with a hammer and block of wood. Got the rim on 95% of the way but that last little chunk wanted nothing to do with it. Was about to go postal until I found this video, your trick worked like a charm! You’re living proof that not all heroes wear capes, thank you for your service!!!

This wasn't an honest attempt. No mention of the temperature your clothes iron was set to or any temperature taken of the iron's surface. Food storage bags are typically composite materials which include mylare as part of the composite as well as a plastic with a lower melting point to allow for heat sealing. Mylar itself is a type of plastic since it is a polyester film, the specific type of this plastic is called BoPET. The melting temperature of Mylar is higher than what most clothes irons can reach. Most brands of Mylar have a melting temp of about 482° F (250°C) and most clothes irons only reach a temp of between 356-428°F (120-220°C) and that's not to mention how this specific type of Mylar was purposefully designed to reflect heat away. A quick pass over the material wouldn't be sufficient to create a seal, it would take a more prolonged exposure to the heat source.
